Gun range includes:
Finding a place to shoot is becoming increasingly difficult as Tucson continues to grow. Shooting opportunities will diminish greatly over the next several years unless we take action now to secure the future for the shooting sports in Tucson.
We see the same thing happening in cities all across America. A once remote gun club shooting range is now being surrounded by new housing construction and the new neighbors are beginning to complain about the sound of gun fire.
When the neighbors find out that the local range protection act forbids closure of shooting ranges because of sound complaints, they begin to complain about safety and environmental concerns. Soon they begin to "find" fired bullets in their front yard.
At a local neighborhood meeting a lady holds up a .30-06 shell case that she claims she found near her daughter's swingset in the back yard. The neighbors are indignant!
Other neighbors begin to consult with environmental lawyers. They allege that the shooting range is a hazardous waste site with all the lead shot and bullets. They claim that birds and other wildlife are being poisoned and that clay bird fragments from the shotgun range contain cancer causing chemicals.
Of course the neighbors know these allegations are false, but they're hoping that their lawsuit will bankrupt the gun club and scare the members into relocating their shooting range elsewhere.
That's why Tucson Rod and Gun Club is committed to building a shooting range that will never be surrounded by homes.
Tucson Rod and Gun Club is moving forward with plans for the construction of a non-profit, public shooting range on the east side of Tucson in the Redington Pass area. This range will be surrounded by federal land, four miles from the nearest private land, so there will never be homes built next to the range. You can see a design drawing of the new shooting range by clicking here.
We've brought together a coalition of gun owners and local businesses, including engineering firms, concrete companies, earthmoving companies, plumbers, carpenters, masons, and architects who have pledged to contribute to the development of this new shooting range.
But we still need gun owners like you to join us in this effort to assure that we have the funding necessary to provide the gun range facilities that Tucson shooters need.
Please join us as we work to secure the future of shooting in Tucson.
Your contribution of $200, $100, $75, $50, $25, $10 or whatever amount you give will help make sure that you, your children and your grandchildren will have a place to shoot as Tucson continues to grow.
